Blooh! Just came back from my 2nd aunt's house. Was there to chill and play with my cousin's child (nephew twice removed?). He's only in K1 (5 yrs old) and can already speak like a typical p2 student in Nanyang. Sort of like Charles Wallace Murry, only his vocab isnt that impressive yet. But then Charles Wallace is 6. ^^ Jeremiah is also rather polite. Most of the time when guests go to his house (like me) he'll fetch them some drinks. Packet or whatever, bottled. So cute right?
You might be thinking, "Wah! Stop singing praises for your your nephew lah!" I'm not. I'm just stating facts. Anyway, Jeremiah's very cheeky too. And i mean VERY. he likes to look under pple's shirts (luckily not mine)!! Gah. And he flirts. Yeah. FLIRTS. Some pple might be going "yao2 mou2 gao3 chor3?!"(you3 mei2 you3 gao3 cuo4?!)but yes. He's a little don juan. Lol. Qin1 yan3 saw him in his "act" at a wedding dinner (yes, the one on 20th Nov), he was making doe-eyes at my 18 YEAR OLD relative. Or wassit 19? gah. forgot. Whatever.
Anyway we had some fun playing PS2 games: WWE Smackdown (one o' my faves), some fighting game and The Sims. Oh, my brother was there too. But after a while Nick was too pissed off by something Jeremiah did and didnt wanna play anymore. Later he came back, and I went outta the room to watch The Best Bet on VCD (not pirated ^^).
The Best Bet was about gambling (duh!) and friendship. Almost everything was spoken in Hokkien dialect, although there were chinese/english subtitles (duh!).
Sucky stuff:
* I watched the show for like 2 hours, and about 1.5 hours of it were about THOUGHTS. A SERIES OF EVENTS WHICH I THOUGH EXISTED BUT DIDNT EVEN EXIST. Confused? Argh. It's like, you watch some movie almost until the end then realise everything youve watched (in the movie) was actually a........(yup, youve guessed it right)....everything was actually a DREAM the main character had. Confused? Leave it at that.
* I felt thoroughly depressed for the 3 main characters in the movie (yep, i felt for fictional people) cos of the stuff that happened--money problems, adultery, lives at risk (loansharks mah), etc--ONLY to realise everything i felt for in the movie for DIDNT HAPPEN. I went through all that uh, emotion for nothing. Nought. Zilch. Zero. Nada. Cut the crap parts out and the movie will only last like, 20-30 minutes.
* In the show Huang (played by Mark Lee) tried to beat up his sister Hui Min (not Magdalene, played by Joanna Peh. Or wassit Joanne? bah.) Tsk-tsk. Siblings shouldn't quarrel (although i do that with my brother at least once everyday, until he decides to butt-slam on me. Probably learnt from WWE.)
* Too pessimistic. Huang become an illegal bookie, he gets caught. The character played by Christopher Lee vandalises a traffic camera, and gets caught. Richard (a middle-aged guy played by Eugene-something) invests $40 000 in a business venture; the deli gets blown up by illegal immigrants pretending to be lion-dancers at the Opening Ceremony and Richard loses all his money. Talk about bad luck. Theirs are not only bad, they are goddam sucky.
Plus point(s):
+ The character Huang said alot of hilarious stuff (in Hokkien lah duh).
So there you have it. The Best Bet. Come to think of it, the title doesnt even make any sense. Aren't all chances of bets being won 50:50? Even if you bought all the numbers from 0000 to 9999 in 4-D, there's no such thing as a BEST bet.
I discourage all who've not watched that friggin movie to watch it. Not even to buy the VCDS (although it would help boost S'pore's economy if you did. Whatever.)
I want 2 hours of my life back. At least I could use it to uh, do TLL homework (which is naturally, left untouched on my study table).
